MAKE HISTORY HER STORY : LESSON 1: EMMELINE PANKHURST
Emmeline Pankhurst was born in Manchester (England) in July 1858. She died in June 1928. Thanks to her fight for equal rights, British women got the right to vote in 1928. Before 1928, she founded the Women’s Social and Political Union (WSPU) in 1903. She was an activist and was imprisoned many times from 1903 to 1918.She was the leader of the Suffragette movement. The Suffragettes used violent methods. They organized riots (=émeutes) before the law changed.
